Anna Grace Harper
δούλος

Los Angeles Doula Services

Welcome!

My name is Anna Grace, and I first fell in love with birth work when a friend from church invited me to her home birth. It was so sacred and transformative to support her in welcoming a beautiful baby into the world.

Fast forward a couple years, I completed training through DONA and feel so honored that I get to support families through such life-changing moments.

So, what exactly is a doula? Doula comes from the Greek word, δούλος (doulos), meaning servant or helper. In childbirth, a doula is a non-medical professional who provides continuous labor support, emotionally, physically, informationally, and spiritually.

I empower you to make informed decisions, weighing the risks, benefits and alternatives, rather than fear-based decisions. I wholeheartedly believe we are not meant to do this life alone, and the vulnerable, transformational process of birth requires even greater support. It would be my honor to walk alongside you in your birth story.

Working Together, at a Glance

Initial Inquiry
First, we meet for a FREE virtual consultation. This allows us to get to know each other, ask and answer questions. At the meeting, I will also inform you about next steps, walking you through what contracts and prenatal appointments look like. Connect with me to get this scheduled!

Prenatal
After hiring me, we will schedule 2 prenatal appointments. The timing of these will depend on when in your pregnancy journey we get connected, but these should be completed before the 38th week. While not a replacement for childbirth education, this is a safe space for asking questions, sharing resources, and preparing for the transformation ahead, in mind, body and soul. Throughout the pregnancy, I am always available to you via texts, calls, and emails.

Labor
You've made it to 38 weeks! I go on-call from this point on until you welcome your baby earthside! When you need me to support you in labor, I will meet you at your home, birthing center, or the hospital. Once you've had your baby, I'll make sure you are settling in, then leave you to enjoy precious bonding time.

Postpartum
While I am not currently offering full spectrum services, such as meal prep or night shifts, I know that the postpartum period (or the fourth trimester) requires just as much preparation, if not more, than pregnancy. Within the first week or two, I make one postpartum visit to check in and engage with your birth story. I am able to provide recommended resources and specialists, as needed.
Paired with the postpartum visits, or as a standalone service, I also offer Bengkung bellybinding, to support your body as your organs rearrange back to their original state, and placenta services like encapsulation, print-making, and umbilical cord keepsakes.
